Australian visa system still awaiting new skilled occupation list

The Australian government has delayed the introduction of the new revised Skilled Occupation list.  Set to come in at end of last month – April 2010 there was a change of plan.  So for anyone considering applying for australia skilled migration visa the new list could arrive anytime this month.  No news from the Australian embassy and DIAC as yet, no specifics were given by the Australian government only that it would be in May.  Immigration to Australia is set to get more complicated with this major change, a lot of people may have to review your eligibility for australian visas.

For some help on what the new Skilled occupations list will look like, take a look at the Specialised occupations list put out by Skills Australia earlier in the year.  It gives a good indication of what the future Skilled Occupations list will look like.  The List of Specialised occupations covers a wide range of occupations such as health occupations such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists through to medical administrators and aged care workers.  The list will include a range of occupations not included in the current list such as Education professionals like University lecturers.  Some trades occupations like Hairdresser will not be included.
