Health Services Australia becomes Medibank Health Solutions

From 1 February 2010 Health Services Australia, known as HSA will become Medibank Health Solutions.

There will be a new website for Medibank Health Solutions www.medibankhealth.com.au .  People accessing the old HSA website will be redirected to this new website.

As the changeover in systems will occur over time, current forms can be used and will be accepted by Medibank Health Solutions until the changeover is complete and the forms changed permanently.

For offshore Australian skilled visa applicants this change should not create a significant issues as panel doctors after completing medical reports would send them to the Medibank Health Solutions directly.  If the medical reports are being sent to the HSA Sydney office this will effectively become the MHS office as of of 1 February 2010.

For onshore Australian skilled visa applicants, there will not any changes to the 13 current locations of the HSA offices which will continue providing their immigration services.  There is only one exception with the Paramatta office now being located at Level 4, 1 Wentworth Street, Paramatta, NSW 2124 and the postal address being P O Box 215, Parramatta, NSW, 2124.

For those people applying for a work permit to Australia, most applicants will only require a chest xray.  For people migrating to Australia and in the process of lodging a Australia skilled visa application, a medical examination and HIV blood test is also required in addition to the chest xray.

On a side note since we are talking about the HSA and medicals, recently I was contacted by a person who was very interested in migrating to Australia and wanted to know what his options were but he also added that his daughter had a cystic fibrosis and would that be an issue.  I had to advise him that it would be an issue that all the applicants would be required to undergo medical examinations and if any one applicant failed to satisfy the health requirements, then all applicants were deemed to fail and the skilled visa application would be refused.
